Production cross–section and reaction yield calculations for 123-126I isotopes on 123Sb(α,xn) reactions

چکیده

Most of the radioisotopes used in medical fields, like examination and treatment studies, were produced by employing nuclear reactions. Within process a reaction, one most important parameters is cross-section data, which help reveal reaction phenomenon's mechanisms. The main intention this study to investigate efficiencies producing iodine isotopes via 123Sb(α,xn) For this, optical level density models TALYS 1.8 code have been used. Production cross-section, alpha beam energy, yields, total activation computed. It has figured out that 45 MeV cyclotron could be enough for 123-126I with yields 39.3372, 5.5685, 0.2410, 0.0796 GBq/mAh, respectively.

Reaction mechanisms involved in the production of neutron-rich isotopes

The reaction mechanisms best suited for the production of neutron-rich nuclei, fragmentation and fission, are discussed. Measurements of the production cross sections of reaction residues together with model calculations allow to conclude about the expected production rates of neutron-rich isotopes in future facilities.
